The Indie Book Index features books that are independently published and currently available for readers to purchase or download.
We accept
- Self-published books
- Books published through an author-owned imprint
- Books released by an independent press when the author retains publishing control
- Fiction and nonfiction in every genre
- Ebooks, paperbacks, hardcovers, and audiobooks
We do not accept
- Traditionally published books
- Books that are not currently available to readers
- Pirated, plagiarized, or unauthorized editions
- Listings containing intentionally misleading information
- Individual short stories or poems that are not published as a standalone book or collection
What you’ll need to submit.
Gathering these details before you begin will make the submission process quick and painless.
Book information
- Book title and author or pen name
- Book description
- Genre and relevant subgenres
- Publication date
- Series name and reading order, if applicable
- Available formats and current pricing
Links and reader details
- A clear front-cover image in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format (maximum 5 MB; at least 1,000 × 1,500 pixels recommended)
- Purchase or reading links
- Content notes, when applicable
- Romance spice rating, when applicable
- Age category
- Contact email for listing questions
What happens after you submit?
Every submission is reviewed before it is added to the Index.

We confirm that the book meets our eligibility standards and check the submitted information for completeness.

We build the listing
Eligible books are organized with the details readers need to browse, filter, and discover them.

We publish it
Once the listing is ready, it becomes part of the Index. Authors can contact us later to request corrections or updates.
A few things to know.
Does submitting guarantee a listing?
No. Every submission is reviewed for eligibility, completeness, and accuracy before it is added to the Index.
How long will review take?
Review times will depend on the number of submissions received. Estimated processing times will be shared on the submission page once submissions open.
Can I update my listing later?
Yes. Authors can contact us to request corrections or updates when pricing, availability, covers, or other book details change.
Can I submit more than one book?
Yes. Each book will need its own submission so that every listing has complete and accurate information.
